I was asked a question, “do you have any enemies?” to which I responded, “what do you mean? I don’t think people conspire to make my life hell. Too much effort and I’m likable enough” he said, “No, are there people who don’t like you?” Well of course everyone has go someone they don’t like and someone who doesn’t like them but that made me think.
If I could please everyone around me and agree with notion people open their mouths with, I would be quite a boring fellow and a lair. Id have no opinion on anything. Imagine if everyone agreed with everyone else. There’d be no forward, progressive thinking. Humanity would probably exist in a lull with no excitement. Not to mention all the shit people would get away with. Many people have little to no morals at all but there are people with morals who stand up for what they believe in and this alone will stimulate opinion.
People react differently to the same thing. Perception is everything. The other day I saw a car nearly kill two people, a man and a woman. The woman stepped back apologetically, with her hands up in pray at the driver while the man was aggressive and unforgiving, he threatened the driver. This was our ‘fight or flight’ instinct at work but it was interesting to see how the two people reacted in completely opposite ways to the same incident.
Imagine the shit people have to deal with dished out by other people who are in a position of ‘power’ but would react aggressively to the situation. The magistrate of the family court for instance, someone whose word could change the lives of entire families, so he studied law, how does he know what’s good for the children? In a system motivated by money and not love, the result of which is people with no moral fiber. It’s like the idea of jailing someone for doing something wrong, putting them in an environment created man, an environment that kills the human spirit, surrounded by bad influences all day every day and expecting that the someone in question to come out of that system ‘rehabilitated’. It’s a farce and far from the truth.
I think the problem is that the issues are taken at face value, no one ever bothers to dig deeper than the surface and people are deeply affected by this. There are many issues people carry around with them everyday, I think only time can heal some of the wounded hearts, time and love from everyone else. That being said, I think that it is these issues that make life interesting, the challenge of dealing with someone who reacts differently than you do. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and everyone should have one. “A man who doesn’t think for himself doesn’t think at all”-Oscar Wilde.
